If you use a Word Press website daily, you already discovered this in December (2018) and can stop reading now.  But, if you’re an infrequent user you may be just discovering….  Word Press doesn’t look/work the same.

And if your site uses the Divi theme, as do many of Skipjack’s websites, you’re REALLY in for a treat because Divi changed its builder at the same time.

Don’t despair.  It’s actually a good thing wrapped in another good thing.  Is it more complicated?  In the case of Divi, for sure.   Yet, overall, it’s worth the learning curve and hassle for a number of benefits.

Both Word Press and Divi are utilizing a visual block-based builder.  This means you can drag and drop in blocks you want to use.  Need some text added, there’s a block you can add for that.  How about an image?  Yep, just click on the image block or module.  Have a lot of content and need to move it around, you can reorder very easily. With Divi, it’s now easier to save your entire page’s layout in the template area and utilize it again.  Want a page with three columns instead of two?  Couldn’t be easier.

Another nice feature is that you can easily switch between a page that looks like your actual web page and the wireframe view that more easily shows you the structure on the page.  Here’s an example from the creator of Divi:

Bottom line is the update was needed, but there’s a lot to know.  Unsure how to proceed?  First, run a backup before trying to edit the pages.  Then, contact Kristin for help.
